MATCH SPONSORSHIP IN HONOR OF BILL WHEATLEY

The close season has seen a number of changes in our club not least the progression of Bill Wheatley, moving on from club chairman to take on the position of Honorary President. Bill has been saying for a while that he felt he wanted to step back a little from the club he founded in 1995 but had until now felt that there was not a committee in place that could carry on his great work. With the emergence of a number of new faces over the past few seasons the time is now right and Bill has handed over the reigns to Andrew Edwards.

To mark this occasion and to acknowledge Bill's achievements in brining the club to this point the Youth Section sponsored the seniors home game against Altrincham in Bills honor.

At half time Bill was presented with a cut crystal plaque by Len Smith Senior club chairman. Bill was flanked by a number of Youth members. The club opened its doors to the youth section giving every member the opportunity to share in Bill's day and also to see some great football. With the home sign notching up a 1-0 win and continuing to make their mark on the Blue Square Premier.

After the game Bill presented Man of the match Lee Hook with his award.

Bill was quoted as saying " I really appreciate what the club have done for me today I really didn't expect this. It was great to see so many of our members and it brings home what it is all about"

Bill is not leaving the club but is working closely with the Senior Club to further strengthen the ties the two clubs have. He acknowledges the benefits of the two clubs working together and will be overseeing the use of the pitches the Youth Section have invested in.
